Mohammad-Reza Lotfi (1947 - 2014) was an Iranian musician known for his exceptional skills on the traditional tar and setar instruments. He studied under prominent musicians Ali Akbar Shahnazi and Habibollah Salehi. After completing his academic studies in local music, he worked in national radio and television starting in 1972. Lotfi moved to the United States in 1986, where he expanded his experience and performed in Asia, Europe, and North America. He returned to Iran in 2006, opened a music school, and founded the 'Chida' women's ensemble. He passed away in 2014 and was buried in his hometown of Gorgan.
