Riaz Nabi Mohammed is a former captain of the Indian field hockey team, born on May 5, 1972, in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He represented India at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics and won the Arjuna Award in 1998 for his achievements in sports. In 1999, he was honored as the 'Best Sportsman of the Year' by Tamil Nadu's chief minister. Following his playing career, he coached the Indian Hockey team during the London Olympics and currently serves as the Chairman of the selection committee for the Tamil Nadu Hockey Association.
