Mohsen Kadivar, born on June 8, 1959, is an Iranian philosopher, leading reformist, and professor of Islamic studies. He is a vocal political opponent of the clerical rule doctrine known as Velayat-e Faqih and a strong advocate for democratic and liberal reforms in Iran, as well as structural reform in Islamic jurisprudence and Shiite thought. Kadivar has spent time in prison in Iran due to his political activism and beliefs.
