Mojmír Vaněk was a notable Czech figure, born on February 9, 1911, in Přerov. He served as a personal secretary to President Edvard Beneš and was the first director of the Arts and Music Section at UNESCO. A political prisoner under the communist regime, Vaněk was also a musicologist, art historian, and professor in Switzerland. He organized numerous chamber music concerts, promoting Czech music internationally. Fluent in several languages, he published extensively on musicology and participated in symposia across Europe. Vaněk passed away on May 8, 1992, in Geneva, and was later buried in his hometown.
