Monica Christina (Mona) Leo was a Finnish-Swedish author and puppeteer, born on April 26, 1903, in Helsinki and passed away on August 5, 1986, in Tammisaari. She was married twice, first to writer Olof Vilhelm Toussaint Enckell between 1924 and 1930, and then to Paul-Hinrich Leon from 1932 to 1944. Mona Leo founded the Helsinki Puppet Theatre in 1951, which offered performances in both Finnish and Swedish, and she was actively involved in creating puppets and sets for the theatre, also performing as an actress.
