Mona Simpson, born Mona Jandali on June 14, 1957, in San Francisco, is an American novelist and writer. She has authored six novels and has taught English at the University of California, Berkeley, and languages and literature at Columbia University. Her debut novel, Anywhere But Here (1986), won the Whiting Award and was adapted into a film in 1999. She wrote a sequel, The Lost Father (1992), and received critical acclaim for her novel, Off Keck Road (2000). She is the younger sister of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
