Johann Mongo Stojka was an Austrian carpet dealer, musician, and author born on May 20, 1929, in Guntramsdorf. A Rom of the Lovara tribe, he was the father of jazz guitarist Harri Stojka. Stojka survived the Auschwitz-Birkenau, Buchenwald, and Flossenbürg concentration camps. Of his family of around 200, only six survived the Nazi genocide against the Romani people. After years of silence, he was encouraged by his son to share his story, which he did for the Shoah Foundation and in his book 'Papierene Kinder.' He passed away on March 16, 2014.
