Monroe Hickson was an American serial killer who committed the murders of four individuals and attempted to murder a fifth in Aiken, South Carolina, during 1946. His crimes remained largely unnoticed until he confessed in 1957 while being arrested for assault. Hickson was wrongfully linked to two of the murders initially, leading to another man's death sentence. He was convicted and given four life sentences, escaped prison in 1966, and was added to the FBI Ten Most Wanted list before being found dead in North Carolina in 1968.
