Moon Edward Mullens was an American jazz trumpeter born on May 11, 1916, in Mayhew, Mississippi. Raised in Chicago, he began his music career there before moving to New York City. He played with notable musicians such as Hot Lips Page, Earl Bostic, and Louis Armstrong. After serving in World War II, Mullens continued performing with several famous bands, including those led by Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington. He stopped performing music permanently in 1961 and transitioned into a photography business.
