Morits Skaugen Sr. was a prominent Norwegian yacht racer and businessman, born on June 27, 1920, in Risør. He represented the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club and competed in the Olympics in 1948, 1952, and 1964. Skaugen worked with his family business I. M. Skaugen after World War II and later co-owned Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. A resistance member during the war, he held various positions and co-founded Institutt for Forsvarsopplysning. He passed away on January 17, 2005.
