Fleischman Chair of the American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 2001 to 2014 and had been with the Met since 1966. During his tenure as chair, he oversaw a complete renovation of the museum's interior and exhibits, enhancing the experience for visitors and preserving American art. He is well-regarded in the field, receiving multiple prestigious awards for his contributions.
