Carl Morten Motzfeldt Laane, born in 1940, is a Norwegian biologist and professor at the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo. In 2013, he claimed to have found a method to diagnose Lyme disease using microscopy but faced allegations of methodological violations in his subsequent study, which was ultimately halted. A follow-up study by the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health determined that his method was not suitable for distinguishing infected patients from healthy ones.
