Morup Namgyal is an esteemed Indian folk musician, composer, and dramatist celebrated for his pivotal role in the revival of Ladakhi and Tibetan folk music traditions. Active since the 1960s, he documented regional songs, helping preserve their cultural significance. Morup co-founded the Lamdon Social Welfare Society and Lamdon School to promote Ladakh's heritage and serves on the advisory board of the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO). Honored with the Padma Shri in 2004, his contributions extend beyond music, including participation in political elections and being the subject of the documentary 'The Song Collector.'
