He temporarily assumed the responsibilities of Chief of Staff following the resignation of Dan Halutz on January 17, 2007, until he handed over the position to Gabi Ashkenazi on February 14, 2007. Born on January 20, 1957, in Gedera, he has had a distinguished career within the Israeli military hierarchy.
