Mstislav Vasilyevich Volkov (June 1 or 2, 1923 – December 11, 2001) was a notable Soviet and Russian traumatologist-orthopedist and pediatric surgeon. He was an academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, previously part of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, where he served as vice-president. From 1961 to 1984, he directed the Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics and was the chief traumatologist-orthopedist of the USSR Ministry of Health. Volkov was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1972 and served as a deputy in the Moscow City Council for eight terms.
