Born on August 28, 1953, in Nablus, Palestine, he spent most of his life in the United Arab Emirates, where he worked in journalism and media, particularly with Al Khaleej newspaper since its relaunch in 1980. He was the younger brother of playwright Muhammad Kamal Jabr and married to Madiha, the sister of late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. His family was displaced from Kfar Saba during the Nakba in 1948.
