Muchdi Purwoprandjono is a retired Indonesian major general and politician, born on April 15, 1949. He briefly served as the chief of Indonesia's Special Forces (Kopassus) and was deputy head of the State Intelligence Agency. Following the fall of Soeharto in 1998, he faced command relief and was blamed for the abduction of pro-democracy activists. In a controversial trial, he was acquitted in 2008 for involvement in the assassination of human rights activist Munir. Currently, he leads a faction of the Berkarya Party associated with Tommy Soeharto.
