Mudiyanse Tennakoon (1934-1991) was a prominent Ceylonese politician known as Podi Putha. He entered parliament at 22, representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and became the youngest MP in Ceylon's history. After multiple electoral victories, he served in key roles in the cabinet. Despite a major setback in 1963 after expulsion from his party, he successfully returned to parliament as an independent. Tennakoon's political career spanned over a decade, culminating in a loss in 1977. His daughter Soma Kumari followed in his footsteps as an MP.
