Müfit Özdeş is a Turkish science fiction writer and translator, born on May 15, 1943, in Ankara. He is the grandson of Lütfi Müfit Özdeş, a close friend of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the son of Mithat Özdeş, one of the founders of İş Bankası. He spent his childhood and youth in Heybeliada. After graduating from Robert College, he studied electrical engineering and economics at METU but left his education to participate in youth movements in the 1960s. He lived in Beirut and Oslo for a while after March 12, 1971, returning to Turkey in 1975 and founding Çağdaş Çeviri Evi.
