Muhammad Khalid Qatmah was a Syrian journalist, poet, and writer, born on June 29, 1934, in Hama. He completed his master's degree at the American University in Beirut. Starting his journalism career in Lebanon in 1955, he later moved to Kuwait in 1963, where he became editor-in-chief for several Kuwaiti publications including 'Al-Hadaf' and 'Al-Watan'. He founded 'Al-Anba' in 1976 and was also a key figure behind 'Al-Rai Al-Aam'. From 1991, he served as the director-general for Dar Suad Al-Sabah.
