Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari is a Nigerian politician born on December 26, 1956. He served as the Minister of Water Resources from 2001 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo. Following this role, he became the President of the African Ministers Council On Water (AMCOW). Shagari then turned his attention to local politics and was elected as Deputy Governor of Sokoto State in April 2007, successfully winning reelection after a legal challenge in May 2008.
