Muniz Sodré de Araújo Cabral, born on January 12, 1942, in São Gonçalo dos Campos, is a prominent Brazilian sociologist, journalist, translator, and university professor. He serves as an emeritus professor at the School of Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is a member of the Bahia Academy of Letters. Also a columnist for the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, he is recognized as one of Brazil's leading intellectuals in communication. Additionally, he was the president of the National Library Foundation from 2009 to 2011 and founded the Graduate Program in Communication at ECO.
