Bella Bond was an American child whose body was discovered in a plastic bag on Deer Island, Boston, in June 2015. Initially named Deer Island Jane Doe, her identity was confirmed in September 2015 after widespread media attention generated numerous tips. Bella's mother and her boyfriend were arrested; she was charged as an accessory after the fact while he was convicted of her murder. On June 28, 2017, the boyfriend was sentenced to life imprisonment. Authorities confirmed Bella had been murdered, although the autopsy did not initially determine the cause.
