Murray Lee Eiland (born September 9, 1936, in Taft, California) is an author, scholar, and researcher specializing in the field of ancient Oriental rug making. Throughout his career, he has authored more than 20 books mainly focusing on the study of rugs from regions including the Arabian Peninsula, China, Iran, Turkestan, and the Caucasus. He is also a contributor to the Encyclopædia Britannica. In his book 'Oriental Rugs: The Comprehensive Guide,' he documented the techniques, designs, and traditional materials used in rug production in the 19th and 20th centuries across the Middle East and the Far East.
