Murray Nicoll was an Australian journalist and broadcaster with a career spanning over 45 years. He is renowned for his reports during the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires, which were delivered live from his burning home, earning him the 1983 Walkley Award. Nicoll worked for notable media outlets such as The News, 3AW, and ABC radio, and was a television reporter for Channel 7 in his later years. He won another Walkley Award in 1985 for coverage of an expedition to Mount Everest. Nicoll passed away from leukaemia at 66.
