Murtaza Jafri, born on March 7, 1958, is a prominent Pakistani painter, draftsman, sculptor, and art educator. He has been the principal/Vice Chancellor of the National College of Arts in Lahore since August 2013. With a teaching career beginning in 1987, he has also supervised PhD candidates at various universities both in Pakistan and internationally. Jafri served as the director of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts from 1989 to 1990. He holds a PhD in Fine Art and degrees from multiple prestigious institutions.
