Musa Magomedovich Shanibov, also known as Musa Shanib, was a Circassian politician and revolutionary, born circa 1936 and deceased on April 28, 2020. He was the founder and leader of the Confederation of Mountain Peoples of the Caucasus until 1996. Recognized as the 'Garibaldi of the Caucasus', he attempted to achieve independence for the Caucasus nations from Russia and commanded volunteer troops during the 1992–1993 War in Abkhazia, where he was implicated in the ethnic cleansing of Georgians.
