He immigrated to Norway in 1981 and served as the imam for Norway's largest Muslim congregation, Central Jamaat-e Ahl-e Sunnat, for 10 years. During his tenure, he focused on fundraising to construct the congregation's mosque. Chishti authored several books, including 'Islami zindgi', which discusses living as a Muslim in a non-Islamic country. He also founded a school in Pakistan.
