He gained local and regional fame for composing and performing the song "Tafadhali ya Anisa," written by Suleiman Jawadi. Zmirli passed away on December 28, 2022, at the age of 83, at the Mohammed Amine Dabaghin Hospital (May Hospital) in Bab El Oued, Algiers, due to health issues that required him to remain bedridden for a period in his home in Bou Saada.
