Mutsumu Shibata (March 23, 1913 - February 19, 1988) was a notable Japanese tenor, singer, opera performer, translator, music educator, and music critic during the Showa period. He was one of the founders of the Nikikai opera company and was regarded as a 'parent' of the organization. He also was known by the alias Munekata Akira or Munekata Akira. His contributions to vocal music and opera significantly influenced the Japanese cultural landscape.
