Norman D. Smart, born on September 29, 1947, is an American drummer known for his work with several notable bands. He replaced Chip Damiani in the Remains in 1966 and was part of Kangaroo, which released an album in 1968. Smart played with Mountain during their early years, including at Woodstock 1969. His drumming on the live recording of 'Long Red' has significantly influenced hip hop music. Additionally, he was a member of Ian and Sylvia's Great Speckled Bird and later formed Hungry Chuck and toured with Gram Parsons's Fallen Angels.
