Naci Koru was a prominent Turkish ambassador who served in various diplomatic positions including as the Turkish Consul General in Mainz, Chicago and as the Turkish Ambassador in Riyadh. He was appointed as the Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Koru was notable for being the first ambassador in the history of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to graduate from an imam hatip school. He was fluent in German and English, and he retired from the Ministry in March 2019.
