Born on February 24, 1924, in Belgrade, she trained under renowned pianist Emil von Sauer in Vienna. After relocating to Mexico in 1950, she performed extensively across America, Asia, and Europe, focusing particularly on the works of Mexican composers like Juventino Rosas and Ricardo Castro. Stankovich had a notable teaching career, mentoring many generations of musicians, and was fluent in seven languages. She passed away on August 30, 2017, in Mexico City.
