Najiya Thamir was a Syrian writer born in Damascus in 1926. She received her primary education between Baalbek, Lebanon, and Damascus, and completed her secondary education in the latter city. After her marriage, she settled in Tunisia, where she worked for Tunisian Radio. Thamir was an active member of the Tunisian Women's Union, the Tunisian Writers' Union, and the Tunisian Authors' Copyright Association. She passed away in Tunisia in 1988.
