Najmul Hasan was an Indian journalist born on February 10, 1946. He worked for Reuters and had previously been a correspondent for the Hindustan Times. Hasan covered significant events including the Soviet–Afghan War and political issues in Nepal and Bangladesh. Tragically, he lost his life in a landmine explosion during an assignment to cover the Iran-Iraq war on August 11, 1983. He was buried in Saket, Delhi. Hasan left behind his wife, Barbara, and two children, and a fellowship at Oxford was established in his honor.
