He served as Minister of Mass Media from April to May 2022 and was the State Minister for Urban Development from August 2020. A member of parliament for the Gampaha District, he gained prominence by topping preferential votes in the 2020 general election. Prior to politics, he led various organizations, including as Chairman of the Securities Exchange Commission, where he successfully oversaw significant recovery in the stock market.
