Nalin Duwara was an Assamese director and cinematographer known for his contributions to Assamese cinema. Born on June 22, 1928, in Sivasagar district (now Golaghat district) during British rule in Assam, he pursued education at Golaghat Bejbarua Higher Secondary School before advancing to St. Anthony's and St. Edmund's Colleges in Shillong for higher studies. In 1947, he enrolled in the Abdullah Fazalbhai Institute of Saint Xavier's in Mumbai for a two-year course in motion picture photography, later working as an assistant cameraman at significant studios in Kolkata.
