She promoted Assamese traditions, weaving, culinary arts, and folk music, contributing to the cultural fabric of her region. Deka was the first female editor and publisher of the children's magazine 'Phool', authoring over 30 books. She also focused on women's and children's topics in radio programs. Her significant influence was recognized by local publications for her contributions to Assamese cultural and economic landscapes.
