Nan Huai-Chin (1918–2012) was a prominent spiritual teacher in contemporary China, recognized as the most significant disciple of lay Chan Buddhist master Yuan Huanxian. He received confirmation of his enlightenment from various Buddhist masters and was considered a major force in the revival of Chinese Buddhism. While he was regarded as one of the most influential Chan teachers within China, he remained relatively unknown outside the Chinese cultural sphere. Nan passed away at the age of 95 on September 29, 2012, in Suzhou, China.
