Nand Buyl was a Flemish actor and director, born on February 12, 1923, in Antwerp, and passed away on March 24, 2009, in Jette. He is considered one of the pioneers of television in Flanders. Beginning his acting career at a young age, he performed in operas and movies. Buyl was known for his role as captain in the popular TV series 'Schipper naast Mathilde' and later as detective Axel Nort. He remained active in theater until the end of his life and was the director of the Royal Flemish Theatre from 1972 to 1992.
