Nand Kumar Patel (1953-2013) was a prominent Indian National Congress politician from Chhattisgarh. He served five consecutive terms in the Kharsia Assembly Constituency between 1990 and 2008, and held positions as a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Tragically, Patel was kidnapped and killed by Naxalites in May 2013 during an attack on Congress leaders in Darbha valley. His assassination spurred investigations, and his legacy is honored through Shaheed Nandkumar Patel Vishwavidyalaya, a university named in his memory.
