He is acclaimed for his research in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates and the development of new dendrimers. In recognition of his significant contributions to chemical sciences, he received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 2009, awarded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India's leading agency for scientific research.
