Nawar al-Awlaki was an eight-year-old American-Yemeni girl who was killed in a U.S. raid in Yemen on January 29, 2017, ordered by President Donald Trump. The raid aimed to target Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Her death received significant media attention, with her grandfather expressing deep sorrow for the loss, questioning the killing of children. Nawar died alongside her mother and uncle, reportedly telling her mother not to cry as she was fine. Her father, Anwar al-Awlaki, was killed in a CIA drone strike in 2011, and her half-brother, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, was also killed in a U.S. drone strike shortly after.
