Nazmi Çengelci was a Turkish bureaucrat born in 1929 in Milas, Muğla. After graduating from Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences in 1951, he began his government service as a district officer in Muğla. He served as Deputy Governor in Yatağan, Bodrum, and Köyceğiz, and later held the governor positions in Cihanbeyli and Kahta. He became the Governor of İzmir in 1979 and faced challenges related to terrorism and anarchy during his tenure. Çengelci retired in February 1982 and passed away on February 19, 2012, at Ege University Hospital.
