He is renowned for developing hybrid varieties of sorghum, which led to his title as the Father of Hybrid Sorghum. He served as vice chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University and chaired the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. His significant contributions to biological sciences earned him prestigious awards, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1966 and several national honors, highlighting his impact on agricultural science.
