Neelum Saran Gour is an Indian English fiction writer born on October 12, 1955. His works depict small towns in North India and their cultural history. He has authored five novels, four collections of short stories, and a piece of literary non-fiction. He has edited an illustrated volume on the history and culture of Allahabad, where he resides and works. Gour, the child of a Bengali mother and a Hindi-speaking father, was educated at St. Mary's Convent Inter College and later pursued history, philosophy, and English literature at Allahabad University.
