Nejat Başeğmezler is a Turkish composer and violist born on May 17, 1950, in Eskişehir. He studied viola and violin at Hacettepe University State Conservatory from 1962 to 1972, later studying composition under Necil Kazım Akses from 1975 to 1977. Since 1971, he has played viola in the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Ankara and also teaches music theory at Hacettepe University. His works chiefly include orchestral and chamber music, with notable awards in national competitions.
