Nele Marian, born Mathilde Idalie Huysmans in 1906 in Congo, was a Belgian writer and journalist known for her contributions during the interwar period and the 1940s. She was the daughter of Belgian officer Jules Jean Huysmans and a Congolese mother named Ojala. Nele Marian emerged as one of the earliest black female poets and writers in Belgium, gaining recognition for her work. Her archives are preserved at the Centre d'archives pour l'histoire des femmes (Carhif). She passed away in 2005.
