Nərmin (Aygən) Ərdəntuğ was a prominent Turkish anthropologist, born on December 25, 1917, in Malta, and passed away on June 26, 2000. She was the first scholar in Turkey to obtain the title of associate professor in the field of ethnology. A graduate of the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography (DTCF), she led the Ethnology Department from 1961 to 1980, later becoming the head of the Social Anthropology section after the separation of departments. Her field research in the 1950s in Elazığ's villages is considered significant.
