Newton K. Wesley was an optometrist born around 1909 and passed away on July 21, 2011. He was a pioneer in the field of contact lenses and co-founded the Wesley-Jessen Corporation with George Jessen. This innovative company contributed significantly to the advancement of contact lens technology. Wesley was also involved in establishing the National Eye Research Foundation. In 1980, the Wesley-Jessen Corporation was acquired by Schering Plough, which was followed by another acquisition by CIBA Vision in 2001.
